Holding on to Blessing
It's a sad day today as Blessing will be put to sleep. Poor boy. In case you're wondering, Blessing is a good friend's Golden Retriever. I was talking to her about Blessing on Sunday when she said,"I shouldn't have named him Blessing, cause now Blessing is leaving me." She went on, "{insert friend/relation name,i can't remember} also named their dog blessing and he ran away after a few months!" The me with my too-fast-for-my-own-good mouth said, "Maybe we're not meant to keep Blessings anyway." Then it hit me.
Many times when we receive a Blessing we tend to want to keep it and hold on to it. Nice things, after all, make us happy, don't they? Many big and small Blessings make life and easier road to travel through. But notice that no matter how hard you try to hold on to a Blessing it always seem to disappear or fade away? Blessings are not meant to be kept or held on to but they're more meant to be passed on or shared.
How is it that some people who barely have extras in their lives still manage to outgive us and yet still remain happy? The fact that they're happy means that Blessings in their lives never run out. They get something that makes them happy, they'll probably share it or pass it along. And while they're doing that, some other people will probably be letting go of or sharing some Blessing which will reach them.
So it's a circle then, this Blessing business? Do you think many Blessings can come your way if it wasn't for someone else being willing to let go of it; or if it wasn't for someone wanting to share a good thing? Think about it.
Blessings are meant to be shared or given away, not to be enjoyed on a long term. Share it, pass it along, and see other blessings come your way. I dare you.

On a related note, rest in peace, Blessing. Hope you've enjoyed your short life here on earth. I've enjoyed playing catch with you and also been slobered enough by you :) See you in heaven (don't all dogs go to heaven??
